Real-Time Co-Working Over Any Web App with Sugarbox

Robin Good's insight:

Sugarbox is a free web app which allows you to share any web app you are working on with anyone you wish to collaborate with.

To use it, you simply go to the web app, open it and then click on the Sugarbox bookmarklet, and you are ready to invite anyone to co-work with you, in real-time, on that app.

Once you are collaborating with someone you can see their cursor and their name in real time. You can text chat and annotate the screen.

A unique feature also allows you to easily record what's being shown on the screen, including your cursor movements, and can be easily shared with anyone.

My comment: Excellent resource if you want to collaborate in real-time with someone else on the same app.

Free to use.

Collaborative Screen Sharing App ScreenHero Now Available on Windows Too

Collaborative Screen Sharing App ScreenHero Now Available on Windows Too | Online Collaboration Tools | Scoop.it
Simple, collaborative screen sharing. You each get your own mouse, and you're both always in control.
Robin Good's insight:

ScreenHero, which I have reviewed and announced back in December, is a downloadable app which allows anyone to collaboratively screen-share any application and to work together simultaneously on it with others.

Today ScreenHero has released a Windows version of its free app which is immediately available for download here: http://screenhero.com/#download

From the official site: "You each get your own mouse pointer, and you're both always in control. It's designed for collaboration, not just broadcasting your screen.

From the original article on BetaKit: "The team calls Screenhero “Google Docs for any application.”

After downloading the app, signing up, and adding team members or friends, users can either share their entire screen or one individual window.

Once a contact has agreed to view the screenshare, both participants get their own mouse pointer and similar to Google Docs, can simultaneously edit and work on projects.

...

The company said their platform is ideal for developers who are programming together or reviewing code, companies who want to review designs or mockups together, or marketers giving product demos.

The basic account is free, and soon users will be able to pay either $5 per month for an individual pro account, or $49 per month for a pro team account, which will add additional features like support and enterprise integration.

The app also lets users chat using Screenhero’s internal chat feature, currently via text but the company said it plans to add audio chat as well, which is a crucial feature since right now most users who want to chat while they’re working together have to use Skype in conjunction with Screenhero."

Screenhero lets you screen share any application with anyone, no matter where they are. It's super simple and blazing fast. You each get your own mouse pointer, and you're both always in control. It's designed for collaboration, not just broadcasting your screen. It's like Google Docs for any application on your computer.

Free for Mac and Windows.

Screenhero is designed to feel like you're sitting next to the person you're working with — even when you're miles away. It's available for both Mac and Windows."

Collaborative Free P2P Screen-Sharing for Macs and PCs with ScreenHero

Robin Good's insight:

ScreenHero is a downloadable app for Windows and Mac computers that allows you to collaborate one-on-one on the same app with someone else at a distance.

ScreenHero has recently added full support for Windows PCs and it now integrates a voice feature allowing you also to talk with the person you are collaborating with.

Your login credentials and session data are fully encrypted using a P2P TLS scheme (SSL based).

ScreenHero operates as a P2P app, allowing parties to hook up directly to one another, and resorting to its centralized servers only when a direct connection is not possible for some reason.

My comment: An excellent screen-sharing tool for distributed teams. If you regularly operate with someone else at a distance and you need to easily and reliably share screens to see and edit drafts, mock-ups, presentations or code, ScreenHero is a great resource.

N.B.: If you are on a PC you will need a recent version of Windows, as PCs with Vista and earlier Windows versions are not supported.

Free version available.

We read Robin Good last week and he's a trustworthy source--he scooped this piece on collaborative screen sharing which seems very pertinent to the topic of online collaboration.  Screen sharing is also something we haven't talked about a lot and that I would like to explore more.
