The most MOOCs were provided by universities in Spain – 79 – followed by 66 in the UK. “We don’t know what’s going on in Eastern Europe,” Gaebel said. There seemed to be no MOOCs offered by any university in that region at present.

May 07, 2015 EUA has launched the Trends 2015 report, which presents the universities’ perceptions of the changes that have taken place in European higher education over the past five years, particularly in relation to learning and teaching. Based on survey responses of 451 higher education institutions from 46 countries (48 higher education systems), the report outlines the changing context in which higher education institutions operate.

The quality of learning and teaching is receiving increased attention and support by the academic staff and the institutional leadership. As examples, 60% have a centralised unit for pedagogical staff development, and 63% have institution-wide quality assurance policies and processes. The implementation of learning outcomes has continued to progress since 2010, with 64% of institutions responding that these have been introduced for all courses. Institutions are generally positive about the benefits of learning outcomes. It is clear, however, that in many institutions their implementation appears to have taken place without changing in radical ways how curricula, including examinations, are developed. Therefore this area is still a work in progress.

At the request of the Council, the Education and Training Monitor is an annual report presented every autumn by the Commission, setting out, in a succinct document, progress on the ET 2020 benchmarks and core indicators, including the Europe 2020 headline target on education and training. The Education and Training Monitor illustrates the evolution of education and training systems across Europe, with a particular focus on the country-specific recommendations adopted in the field of education and training, and contributes to the analytical basis for the next European Semester.

In the last quarter of 2012, the Commission will present a Communication on Rethinking Skills aiming to increase the quantity, quality and relevance of skills supply for higher economic and social outcomes. This will, among other actions, announce a new EU Initiative on "Opening up Education": a proposal to exploit the potential contribution of ICTs and Open Educational Resources (OER) to education and skills development. This new EU initiative on "Opening up Education" will be the topic of a subsequent Communication in mid-2013.

eTwinning es la comunidad de centros escolares de Europa. Ofrece una plataforma a los equipos educativos (profesores, directores, bibliotecarios, etc.) de los centros escolares de uno de los países europeos participantes , para comunicarse, colaborar, desarrollar proyectos o lo que es lo mismo, sentirse y ser parte de la comunidad educativa más atractiva de Europa. La iniciativa eTwinning promueve la colaboración escolar en Europa utilizando las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (TIC) y apoya a los centros escolares prestándoles las herramientas y los servicios necesarios que faciliten su asociación para trabajar en común cualquier tema. El portal eTwinning (www.etwinning.net) es el principal punto de encuentro y el lugar donde trabajar juntos. Está traducido a veinticinco idiomas, cuenta con unos 170 000 miembros y unos 5324 proyectos* realizados entre dos o más centros escolares de Europa. El portal proporciona las herramientas en la red para que los profesores encuentren socios, pongan en marcha proyectos, compartan ideas, intercambien sus mejores prácticas y comiencen a trabajar juntos inmediatamente, sirviéndose de las distintas herramientas, hechas a la medida, a su disposición en la plataforma eTwinning. eTwinning nació en 2005 como la iniciativa más importante del Programa de aprendizaje eLearning de la Comisión Europea y desde el 2007 pertenece al Programa de aprendizaje permanente . Main findings
"The key finding of the study is that a common conceptual approach at European level, capable of supporting the development of digital capacity in educational organisations, is both desirable and attainable.
The DigCompOrg framework has seven key elements and fifteen sub-elements that are common to all education sectors. There is also scope for the addition of sectorspecific elements and sub-elements. For each of the elements and sub-elements of DigCompOrg, a number of descriptors were developed (74 in total). Diagrammatically, the elements, sub-elements and descriptors of DigCompOrg are presented as the sectors of a circle, with an emphasis on their inter-relatedness and inter-dependence."
