One of the most important things I do as a writer is collaborate. Whether this is with my editor, with another writer, or with a team, the ability to collaborate takes my work from pedestrian to professional like no other aspect of writing.

Hi Robin, Thansk for you reply. I tested Pirate today with a friend. And it works pretty ok. Problems occured as we uploaded an attachment. When I used the slider I couldn't come back to writing. Compared with Typewith.me I don't really see any difference - and the dashboard is pretty much the same as well. Not that this is a problem - it's fine to have more tools to choose from. Off-line writing option when the connection crashes would be nice.
With the Hoot app, Facebook may actually serve a very useful purpose if you're a student or want to collaborate on group projects.
In addition to hosting group video for up to 8 participants and message threads on your topic, Hoot includes smart formatting for math and science.
To get started, just install the app on Facebook and type in what you're working on. You can invite friends privately or announce your topic as a status message to get feedback or help on your homework from your network.
Reel is a brand new tool that helps you quickly create and share presentations.
Each presentation is stored online behind a unique URL, and Reel provides a unique feature of audience polling in a very easy fashion.
But I already have Powerpoint; why would I need another presentation tool?
You have Powerpoint, but that doesn’t mean everyone else does too! With tablets, smartphones and internet access everywhere, you can’t rely on everyone being able to view a PPT.
Reel solves this by posting your preso behind a unique URL. Your audience only needs a web browser to view your preso where and when they are ready. In addition your audience won't have to wait for a file download or to open another software.

For successful communication and file sharing many freelancers use online services like Skype, email and ICQ.
However, anyone who has used these tools knows that having too many active applications is not convenient and may cause your computer to become overloaded.
As a result of an overloaded machine, you may have to stop all your project work for an undetermined period of time.
