AnyMeeting, the free web conferencing service all your online meeting and conference needs, is today launching a redesign of its user interface, which brings the service an upgraded interface that makes it even easier to meet with your colleagues without actually having to see them in person.
If that doesn’t get you excited, I don’t know what will.
The company has also added a simultaneous video chat and broadcasting feature — a la Google+ Hangouts — that allows up to six participants to talk to each other and collaborate in realtime as they plan their takeover of the world.
The updates also include faster screen sharing and a cleaner in-meeting experience with improved screen management and web conferencing functions all offered in an easily-accessible menu bar.
Channel.me offers simultaneous browser sharing, real-time chat, and the ability to add notes and comments right on the page.
Channel.me works much like Google Docs: you can highlight text on a page, add comments and notes to different sections of a web page, and then chat with the other people in your shared browser session.
You can both search the page in real-time, and when one of you clicks a link or navigates forward or back, the other people in the session are notified before the action goes through.
There are even Chrome and Firefox extensions you can install to start a sharing session from any web site without visiting Channel.me first.
ViVu, a leader in desktop videoconferencing solutions, today announced that its videoconferencing solutions are now available for both the iPhone 4 and the iPad 2, making high definition (HD), multiparty video collaboration and two-way video from all endpoints available on these devices for the very first time.
Using the iPhone 4 or the iPad 2, customers, business partners and colleagues can now easily attend multiparty videoconferencing sessions; upstream video from their own devices; and collaborate with session participants through slide and desktop sharing.
By bringing its patented MXTP™ technology to the iOS platform, ViVu now delivers an HD video conferencing experience to all endpoints, whether PCs, Macs, Android devices or iOS devices, without requiring any proprietary hardware.
ViVu’s zero-proprietary-hardware requirement is a paradigm shift in the HD videoconferencing industry, with other solutions relying on hardware based MCUs or routers.
More big news in social networking today: as promised earlier this week, Google has updated the Google+ iPhone app and finally gave it the ability to access hangouts, Google’s amazing 10 way video conference feature for your iDevice.
This is big news, as Hangouts is one of the most interesting features of the new social network. It allows you to have real time video conferences with up to 10 people at a time for free, using both desktops and now mobile devices.
Not only can you talk, but you can even share YouTube videos or images in real time with all the participants.
EFactor, the world's largest network for entrepreneurs, will be the first entrepreneurial online platform with videoconferencing technology.
Unlike videoconferencing in other social networks, EFactor's new feature is HD quality with extremely low bandwidth consumption that does not require any installation of hardware or software downloads, enabled by ViVu's MXTP™ technology.
One-on-one video chat is free, while group chat up to 8 people costs only $6/month. Users will even be able to invite non-EFactor members to videoconference or choose different degrees of audience interaction suitable for a video presentation.

Google Plus has just released a new version of its social network platform which include many powerful online collaboration features.
The new Hangouts - the video chat feature - have come to mobile, currently supporting Android 2.3+ devices, and iOS support is "coming soon."
Hangouts also now have an "On Air" feature, which allows any Google Plus user to tune in and watch.
Furthermore, Hangouts now offer screensharing, a shared sketchpad, and names for Hangouts.
But perhaps the killer app is Google Docs in Hangouts, which will open up the possibility of live collaborative work (especially once Google Apps accounts get access).
Shawn,
This company is setting records for how fast businesses need to grow. Before you know it, Google+ will become the default learning tool in schools and colleges.

At this year’s Disrupt conference, a start-up called Bitcasa is doing something different with cloud storage. This company announced a cloud storage solution that offers unlimited space for $10 per month.
Bitcasa is aiming to provide more than just a synced folder on a computer.
The idea is that Bitcasa will become completely integrated with the device, negating the idea of placing certain files in the cloud.
Instead, the cloud is the computer’s hard drive, and the physical local disk is used like cache.
With all those files automatically written to the cloud, it also becomes trivially easy to share them.

This new "federated" wiki model innovates three ways.
a) It shares through federation,
b) it composes by refactoring and
c) it wraps data with visualization.
The "story" is a collection of paragraphs and paragraph like items. The "journal" collects story edits. Should you take my page and edit it as yours, I can see what you've done and may decide to take your edits as my own.

While your school's Learning Management System (e.g. eCollege, Moodle, Blackboard) may provide some assistance with these tasks, you will also find a wide variety of tools available to help you work together online.
Let's take a closer look at some of the free options you may want to consider and explore how they can be used to support your coursework.
By now, most businesses, even small ones, have heard of — and many have used — video conferencing.
With more employees scattered around the country or working from home, and more far-flung clients, it is in a company’s best interest to know how to conduct a business meeting via online audio and video.
But how do you determine which video conferencing package and technology is right for you?
There are pros and cons to all of them, experts agree.
Below are some of the more popular and functional video conferencing options:
Organize better meetings over organizational boundaries using your existing tools. Schedule a suitable time, co-create an agenda, share meeting notes, use virtual conferencing, and keep everyone updated – without the need to remember any passwords.
Google added a number of key features to its Google+ Hangouts live video chat Tuesday morning: Select users can now broadcast their Hangouts, which turns the intimate chat sessions into a live stream that can be watched by an unlimited number of participants.
Hangouts are also now available to mobile users through the latest version of the Android Google+ app.
Other new features include the ability to share your screen with other Hangout participants, and a Hangouts API.

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Vidquik is showing off its “no-hassle” one-to-one video and web conferencing service at the DEMO Fall 2011 conference Tuesday.
This week the public beta of the product goes live with the ability to use free 1-to-1 online video and slideshow presentations.
Bernard Moon, CEO of Vidquik, said in an interview there several factors that set Vidquik apart from rivals like Cisco’s WebEX, Citrix’s GoToMeeting and Adobe’s Connect. Unlike the others, Viquik has no downloads or plugins. One user simply sends another person a link and he or she is inside the conference.
